FIRE ISLAND SURFER RESCUES SWIMMER OFF SOLANA BEACH, CALIFORNIA

A long time Fire Island Surfer and the creator of FireIsland.com was in the news today for saving this life of a distressed swimmer off the coast of Solana Beach in San Diego, California.
Brendan Smith is a 3rd generation Fire Islander who created FireIsland.com in 1996 with his brother Luke Smith a pioneer in the Internet marketing field.

The brothers both call San Diego home now, and although they still are actively involved in the Fire Island community they focus all of their energy on their newest project a leading performance based Internet marketing firm in San Diego called MotiveInteractive.com.

Luke Smith caught the dramatic video on film as the brothers were out surfing with another family member on vacation from New York.

CBS8.com -- A woman swimming off the coast of Solana Beach got caught in a rip current and was carried out to sea, but the quick actions of a North County surfer saved her life.
