January

 

January 1st – The New Year’s Day Beach to Breach Hike is a 3 miles hike that visit the splendor on Fire Island and goes through sand over to the breach at Old Inlet. The free hike starts at the Wilderness Visitor Center at The Fire Island National Seashore from 10AM-1PM. Click here for more info.

 

June

 

June 27th – July 20th – Enjoy sipping wine donated by the First Glass Wine Cellars at the Fire Island Lighthouse Preservation Society Annual Art Show. The opening reception will begin June 26th from 6PM-9PM. A portion of sales will go to the Fire Island Lighthouse Preservation Society. Click here for more info. 

 

July

 

July 1st – From 7/1 to 9/3 Every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday view birds of the barrier island through windows at the top of the Wilderness Visitor Center. The event begins at 9AM and ends at 4PM.

July 4th – At the Point O’ Woods, enjoy a viewing of Fireworks by the bay and from most shorelines on Fire Island.

July 8th – From 12PM – 2:30PM, enjoy an outdoor community barbecue hosted by the Fire Island Pine’s Fire Department. With free food, beverages, music and raffles – the annual event is fun for the whole family! Click here for more info.

July 8th – The Annual Fire Island Ocean Charity Swim  hosted by Open Water Swim LLC will be on Saturday, July 8th. There is a 400 meter swim for children ages 10 and under, and a 1 mile swim is for swimmers ages 10 – 17 and opened to adults USMS or one time event swimmers. The start and finish of the race is on the beach east of the Atlantique lifeguard stand. Click here for more info.

August 12th – 31st – Annual Barefoot Black Tie Dinner Benefit @ The Robert Moses State Park Lighthouse. From 6:30 -11PM – Enjoy live music from the band Tradewinds along with dinner and dancing. This romantic night along the Lighhouse terrace is perfect for couples to enjoy a relaxing time by the water. $175 per person with open bar and silent auction. August 13th – The 11th annual Fire Island 5k run for Rose will be begin at 1 Cayuga Street in Ocean Bay Park. Benefits from the run go to the Rose DiGangi foundation for supporting brain cancer patients and their families. Click here for more info.

National Lighthouse Day from 9:30AM – 6PM, spend National Lighthouse Day at the Fire Island Lighthouse.

September 8 – 9th – Come for the laughs at the annual Miss Fire Island drag show at the Grove Hotel in Cherry Grove. Inspired by the Miss America pageant, contestants bring on the glamour and elegance by dressing up in costumes. Whether you come to dance or watch who will be crowned queen – this entertaining event is sure to be anything but a drag! Click here for more info.

September 9th – TBA – CJ’s Restaurant and Bar in Ocean beach hosts its annual Halloween bash. Fire Island is a great hotspot for spooky-themed Halloween parties, as other local bars host parties the end of September through October as well. Bring your best costume, and don’t miss this fun

November 25th – Come to the annual Fire Island Tree Trimming event to celebrate the holidays Island style!

 

December

 

December 9th – On Saturday, enjoy the annual reenactment of the flying Santa at The Fire Island Lighthouse. Take plenty of photos at this free event, and relive the historic event with us! Click here for more info.
